A case has been registered against 35 individuals, including renowned dancer Mehak Malik, following allegations of performing obscene dances at a mehndi ceremony in Yazman Mandi.
According to the Bahawalpur police, the event was marked by the showering of currency notes during the performances, which raised concerns about public decency. Additionally, the use of loudspeakers and sound amplifiers during the ceremony was found to be in violation of local laws.
The police have officially named Mehak Malik and a local citizen, Zeeshan, also known as Shani, in the case. Alongside them, ten other individuals have been nominated, with several more unidentified suspects included in the investigation.
Sources indicate that among those nominated in the case are government employees, including a police constable, raising questions about the involvement of public officials in the incident.
The police are currently conducting further investigations to gather more evidence and identify additional participants in the event. The case has sparked significant public interest and debate regarding the enforcement of laws related to public performances and decency standards.
