PTA, FIA Apprehend Illegal Phone SIM Seller in Quetta and Gujrat

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing, conducted successful raids against illegal SIM issuance activities in Quetta and Gujrat.

In Quetta, the PTA led a raid at the telecom franchise located at the Engineering Building, Zarghoon Road. The FIA team, accompanied by PTA officials, arrested franchise owner Mr. Usman Ahmed and seized biometric verification system (BVS) devices, desktop computers, and a large stock of SIM cards.

In another raid, PTA Zonal Office Lahore, in collaboration with FIA Cyber Crime Reporting Centre (CCRC) Gujranwala, acted on a complaint from a Karachi resident and raided a telecom franchise on Bhimber Road, Gujrat. Investigations revealed the issuance of 433 SIMs against Sindh-based CNICs, with 57 activated using a single BVS device. The franchise owner was arrested on the spot.

PTA remains steadfast in its commitment to curbing illegal SIM sales and ensuring digital security, working closely with law enforcement agencies to safeguard telecom consumers nationwide.
