How to Get Internship at National Assembly of Pakistan

The National Assembly of Pakistan has announced the opening of applications for its Parliamentary Internship Program – Summer Batch 2025, offering a six-week hands-on experience for students and young graduates to gain insights into the workings of the country’s highest legislative institution.

This initiative aims to strengthen democratic awareness among youth and is aligned with the National Assembly Strategic Plan (NASP), which focuses on engaging citizens—especially students—in parliamentary processes.

Program Overview

The internship offers participants a unique opportunity to understand legislative procedures, public policy, and democratic norms through direct involvement in the functioning of the National Assembly.

Duration and Structure

  • Total Duration: 6 weeks
  • Batches: Offered on a rolling basis throughout the year

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Completed at least 14 years of education from a Higher Education Commission (HEC)-recognized institution
  • Enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate program (after completing 4 semesters), or in a Master’s program in the following disciplines:
    • Law, Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration
    • Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Statistics
    • Human Resources, Agriculture
    • Media Sciences / Mass Communication
    • Information Systems & Technology
    • Social Sciences or any equivalent 16-year education
  • Must have:
    • Minimum 60% marks in percentage system
    • Minimum 2.5 CGPA (out of 4.0) in GPA system
  • Maximum Age Limit: 30 years
  • Applicants from far-flung regions are especially encouraged to apply, including:
    • Balochistan, Sindh, Southern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, erstwhile FATA, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan

Internship Features

  • Practical Exposure: Work closely with various departments of the National Assembly
  • Training & Orientation: 3 to 5 days orientation session at Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services (PIPS), Islamabad
  • Professional Development: Insight into parliamentary research, legislation, and governance

  • Certification: Internship Completion Certificate from the National Assembly Secretariat

  • Neutral Participation: Interns must remain impartial and avoid any political affiliations during the program

Important Notes

  • The internship is unpaid
  • No fee is charged for applying
  • Internship does not guarantee employment at the National Assembly
  • Any attempt to influence the selection process will lead to disqualification
  • The National Assembly Secretariat reserves the right to terminate the internship at any point if terms are violated
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered
