Quetta Gladiators have received a timely reinforcement in their bid to revive their Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 campaign, as New Zealand’s Mark Chapman has officially joined the squad in Pakistan.
The left-handed batter, picked in the Platinum category, was unavailable during the early stages of the tournament due to prior commitments. His absence led the Gladiators to bring in mystery spinner Ali Majid as a temporary replacement to bolster their spin attack.
With Mark Chapman now in the country and set to take part in the team’s all-important training session today, the Quetta Gladiators finally have the overseas firepower they initially banked on during the draft.
“Mark Chapman joined our squad this morning and will participate in today’s all-important training session,” Quetta Gladiators team manager Azam Khan told local newspaper. “Chapman’s addition is a massive boost for us. He is someone who can absorb pressure and counterattack when needed—exactly what our middle order requires.”
Mark Chapman brings with him a T20 strike rate above 135 and the kind of game awareness that’s hard to come by. His calmness under pressure and ability to dominate spin bowling make him an ideal fit for Quetta’s middle order—an area that has lacked consistency so far in the tournament.
A team that already boasts Finn Allen, Hasan Nawaz, and Rilee Rossouw now has one of the best contemporary franchise cricket batters in its midst.
The Gladiators, currently sitting fourth on the points table with one win in three matches, have shown promise but are yet to find their rhythm. Mark Chapman’s arrival could be the spark they need ahead of a crucial fixture against Karachi Kings on Friday, April 25, at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
For a team seeking greater control in the middle overs and more punch at the back end, Chapman’s presence is more than just a squad addition—it’s a tactical upgrade.
