In a first for the country, an underpass connecting Islamabad Airport to Murree will be built in just 35 days, following the directives of Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, 24News reported on Tuesday.
During his visit to the construction site, Naqvi instructed authorities to maintain both speed and quality of work. He also directed officials to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow through alternate routes during the construction phase.
“This signal-free corridor will make travel between the airport and Murree much easier,” Naqvi said. “It will also help reduce traffic congestion in Islamabad and save fuel.”
The underpass is part of a larger road network project overseen by the Capital Development Authority (CDA). CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa briefed the minister, stating that the 479-meter-long underpass is being constructed rapidly as part of the development plan.
