Mohammad Amir Reveals Personal Sacrifices to Play for Pakistan Again

Quetta Gladiators’ seasoned pacer Mohammad Amir shared his thoughts over his exit from the national side following the 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies. In an interview during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025), Amir highlighted the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) lack of communication after the team’s group-stage exit.

“After the T20 World Cup, no one spoke to me, no one told me about the plan, and for a wise person, a hint is enough. When I am not in the plan, then I have to think about myself,” said Amir, 32, who claimed 7 wickets in four matches during the tournament. He also revealed personal sacrifices, stating, “When I came to play the World Cup, I left my county contract. During the time I played, I spent more money than I earned. My trainer traveled with me, and I covered all his expenses myself.”

It is worth noting that Mohammad Amir, as well as star all-rounder Imad Wasim, were dropped from the national side and were never called up again. The latter had announced his retirement from international cricket, while Amir is more content with playing franchise cricket all over the globe.

Amir has shone for Quetta Gladiators, taking 4 wickets in 3 PSL matches. Quetta Gladiators’ next match will be against the Karachi Kings on April 25.
