Punjab to Increase Security of Government Housing Schemes

In response to the rising number of thefts and burglaries, the Punjab government has decided to implement an advanced security system in Lahore’s government housing societies, according to a report by 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

Official documents accessed by the channel reveal that over Rs330 million will be allocated to bolster security measures across six GORs, Poonch House, and Wahdat Colony.

To restrict unauthorized access, facial recognition technology will be installed at all entry and exit points of these areas. Additionally, automatic number plate recognition systems will be deployed to further enhance surveillance.

A centralized control room will be established to oversee all security operations. The project also includes the installation of an advanced video surveillance and data management system.

According to the documents, more than Rs20 million will be allocated for the installation of CCTV cameras, while another Rs20 million will go toward purchasing security barriers, guard cabins, and computer systems.

Furthermore, over Rs70 million will be invested in setting up and equipping the control rooms to manage the upgraded security infrastructure effectively.
