The Pakistan government has ordered Indian nationals working in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025) broadcast crew to leave the country within 48 hours, citing security and diplomatic issues. This follows the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, which killed 26 tourists in Jammu and Kashmir, escalating India-Pakistan tensions.
Over two dozen Indian crew members are affected, including engineers, camera operators, production leads, and player-tracking specialists. They were key to PSL 2025’s broadcast, but now the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Trans-Asia, the broadcaster, are rushing to find replacements. The PCB argued that the crew’s sports visas should exempt them, but the government’s decision stands firm after a National Security Council meeting.
Meanwhile, across the border, India has banned the live streaming of PSL 2025 in the country. With no alternative streaming partner announced in India, fans in the country will be unable to follow the remainder of the tournament via official platforms.
The move comes as India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and closed the Attari border, while Pakistan canceled visas for Indian nationals. Some Indian crew members, including 12 with UAE residency, are stranded and have been told to restrict their movements until they leave. The PCB faces challenges ensuring broadcast quality for the ongoing tournament, which spans four cities.
