Starlink’s License Issue in Pakistan Delayed Again

Elon Musk’s company Starlink will have to wait longer to get a license to provide satellite internet services in Pakistan.

Sources told ProPakistani that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has linked the issuance of license to permanent registration with the Pakistan Space Activities Regulatory Board (PSARB).

Sources said PTA does not have the authority to issue a license based on temporary registration.

PSARB had granted Starlink a temporary registration to Starlink on March 21. The Board has also hired an international consultant to help prepare rules for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites.

After the rules are made, a checklist for permanent registration will be prepared. Technical and regulatory requirements will also be finalized after the rules are completed.

PTA has decided not to issue Starlink a license based on temporary registration. PTA will wait for Starlink’s permanent registration with the PSARB before issuing the license.
