After Usman Wazeer’s stunning knockout, Pakistani boxing fans had more to celebrate as the country’s top middleweight talent made headlines at an international ranking event. The atmosphere was electric in Thailand, with fighters from India and Pakistan vying for recognition and crucial ranking points. In the end, Pakistan’s middleweight talent, Shahvir Afridi, knocked out India’s Trijot Singh Bawa.
The 27-year-old boxer, who also serves in the Rapid Response Force of the Sindh Police and is known in the ring as the Markhor. Afridi entered the ring with a strong professional record and a reputation for aggressive, high-pressure boxing.
From the opening bell, Afridi dominated the contest, launching a series of powerful combinations that kept his opponent on the defensive. By the third round, the pressure was clearly taking its toll, with Singh struggling to withstand Afridi’s relentless attack.
The turning point came in the fourth round. As Afridi continued to land clean, unanswered shots, the referee intervened, declaring a technical knockout (TKO) in Afridi’s favor after determining that Singh could no longer defend himself effectively.
This decisive victory not only added another win to Afridi’s record—now standing at 16 wins from 18 fights, with just one loss and one draw—but also further established his status in the middleweight division.
Afridi’s triumph was a proud moment for Pakistan. The event also saw success in the women’s segment, where Pakistan’s Aalia Soomro delivered a stunning first-round knockout against her Thai opponent.
