The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has issued a nationwide alert over a counterfeit version of Rhophylac 300, an imported injection used to treat blood-related disorders.
Originally manufactured by Swiss company CSL Behring, the fake batch—number 100669751 P—has been found circulating in local medicine markets. DRAP confirmed the injection is counterfeit and hazardous to health after it failed sterility and quality tests.
The alert followed a report from Punjab’s Drug Control Department, which flagged suspicious samples. The fake product contains false manufacturing details and misleading Swiss addresses.
Rhophylac 300, a human Anti-D immunoglobulin derived from blood plasma, is vital for treating conditions like immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). DRAP warned that using counterfeit biological products can pose serious health risks due to uncertain ingredients and compromised safety.
All pharmacies have been ordered to stop selling the fake batch immediately. Doctors and patients are strongly advised not to use it.
In response, DRAP’s National Regulatory Field Force has launched intensified market checks and is working to seize all remaining vials of the counterfeit drug. The public is urged to report suspicious medicines and avoid buying from unverified sources.
