New Requirements Introduced for Registration of Private Schools

The Education Authority Lahore has announced new regulations for the registration of private schools, introducing stricter criteria to ensure better facilities and hygiene standards.

According to a recent meeting chaired by CEO Education Lahore Nazir Hussain Chheena, all private schools seeking registration will now be required to present a new building fitness certificate and a hygienic certificate. Registrations will no longer be granted based on old certificates.

The meeting was attended by prominent school owners and heads of educational institutions, including Qazi Naeem Anjum from Qazi School and Waqf Awan Taleem, as well as representatives from Beaconhouse, The City School, KIPS, Lahore Grammar School, Unique, The Educators, Allied School, Dar-e-Arqam, Kids Campus, and LAKAS.

Qazi Naeem Anjum raised concerns over the requirement of operating school buses for neighborhood schools, stating that it poses financial and logistical challenges. He also urged the authority to expedite registrations for schools that have faced delays, noting that once registered, schools can easily affiliate with education boards.

CEO Nazir Chheena emphasized that purchasing school buses will be mandatory for registration going forward. He also instructed all schools to comply with the Free and Compulsory Education Act 2024. The department is actively renewing licenses for existing schools, while applications for new licenses will involve document verification and physical inspections.
