In the wake of escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to address the nation following an emergency meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) convened to assess the security situation and formulate a strategic response to recent Indian military actions.
The NSC meeting, currently underway, brought together senior military officials, members of the civilian leadership, and representatives from relevant institutions to discuss the evolving threat landscape and Pakistan’s defensive posture.
The escalation follows India’s launch of “Operation Sindoor,” a series of airstrikes targeting different sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. India claims these strikes targeted “terrorist infrastructure” linked to a recent attack in Indian-administered Kashmir.
However, Pakistani authorities report that the strikes resulted in the deaths of at least 26 civilians, including women and children, and injuries to 46 others, with mosques and residential areas among the damaged sites.
In a decisive response, Pakistan’s armed forces have shot down five Indian fighter jets and destroyed an Indian brigade headquarters. The downed aircraft include three Rafale jets, one MiG-29, and one SU-30. Additionally, Pakistani forces have targeted and destroyed multiple enemy posts along the Line of Control (LoC).
