Following the unexpected pause and eventual abandonment of the IPL match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Dharamsala, new developments have emerged regarding the safety and evacuation of those present at the venue.
Earlier, the match was halted due to a reported floodlight failure, but conflicting reports surfaced as fans began evacuating the stadium amid security concerns. Around 9 pm, it was revealed that IPL authorities had ordered the evacuation of the stadium for security reasons.
Later, the IPL Board deleted this statement and clarified that the match was called off due to a significant technical failure caused by a power outage affecting one of the floodlight towers at the HPCA stadium. However, viral clips have been circulating social media that contradict BCCI’s statement. One of the cheerleaders of the IPL shared a video to reveal what was going on in the stadium:
In a further update, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that a special train will be arranged tomorrow to evacuate players, staff, and broadcast crew from Dharamsala. The ground has already been evacuated, and a final decision on the continuation or rescheduling of the IPL match will be made tomorrow.
