Bangladesh Stars Set to Leave PSL 10

As political tensions between India and Pakistan spill over into the world of cricket, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is working urgently to bring home two of its players who are currently in Pakistan for the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.

Fast bowler Nahid Rana, who plays for Peshawar Zalmi, and leg-spinner Rishad Hossain of Lahore Qalandars are both expected to return home soon. The BCB has said it is in regular contact with Pakistani authorities, the PCB, and the Bangladesh High Commission to ensure the players are safe and can return home as soon as the situation allows.

Flight operations across major Pakistani cities were temporarily suspended due to rising regional tensions but are operating as normal, according to sources.

Animosity has been escalating in recent days, with a drone recently crashing within the Rawalpindi Stadium complex, which Pakistani officials claim came from India. That incident, along with missile activity earlier in the week, has forced the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to reschedule the remaining PSL matches.

Meanwhile, according to reports from ESPNCricinfo, several overseas players in the PSL have reportedly suggested that the rest of the tournament should be moved to Dubai, where matches could go ahead without security concerns.

This isn’t the first time foreign players in the PSL have had to weigh cricket against personal safety. But this time, with real military activity happening, the issue has gone beyond sport. Bangladesh’s upcoming tour of Pakistan after PSL 10 is likely to be postponed as well.

For now, the BCB is focused on keeping communication lines open and waiting for the right window to fly their players out. Whether more foreign players will follow or whether the PSL moves abroad remains to be seen—but the situation is being watched closely around the cricketing world.
