Former Pakistan Coach Announced as Bangladesh Bowling Coach

Bangladesh cricket finally has a pace arsenal it can be proud of, and they have brought in a man who knows a thing or two about bowling absolute rockets: Shaun Tait, to coach their pace battery.

The BCB has announced that the 42-year-old has signed a contract with the team running through November 2027, replacing New Zealander Andre Adams in the role.

Shaun Tait, a name synonymous with raw pace and intensity during his playing days, brings with him not only a wealth of international experience—95 wickets in 59 matches for Australia—but also a proven coaching resume that includes stints with Pakistan, Afghanistan, West Indies, and various franchises across the globe.

“It’s a good time to be involved with the Bangladesh cricket team right now,” Shaun Tait said following the announcement. “There’s been a lot of talk around the potential of the young fast bowlers, and my job now is to help turn that potential into match-winning performances.”

The former Australian pacer, known for regularly clocking speeds above 150 kph, is no stranger to Bangladesh. He previously played for and coached the Chittagong Kings in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), gaining familiarity with local conditions and talent.

His long-term appointment comes at a time when Bangladesh is in transition, eyeing consistency in the fast-bowling department under the guidance of new head coach Phil Simmons. Bangladesh has a busy period ahead, including white-ball series against the UAE, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

The Aussie beat out competition from several other candidates, including from Pakistan.

The BCB’s decision to secure Tait on a multi-year deal also reflects a strategic commitment to building a pace battery that can consistently compete at the highest level, especially ahead of the next cycle of ICC events.

Shaun Tait will join the Bangladesh squad later this month and is expected to hit the ground running with preparations for their upcoming assignments.
