EV Charging Stations Across Sindh

During the visit, Chery Holdings expressed its commitment to installing EV charging stations every 50 kilometers across all districts of Sindh. The initiative is designed to support the growing number of electric bikes, cars, and trucks in the region.

Local EV Truck Assembly in Karachi

In a parallel development, Chery Holdings will also establish an assembly plant for EV mini trucks in Karachi. The plant aims to produce affordable electric trucks, contributing not only to green mobility but also to job creation and local industry development.

“This project will provide low-cost transport options and help reduce carbon emissions, while also generating employment for local communities,” said Memon.

Rural Solar Projects and Energy Access

The Chinese company further committed to cooperating on solar energy initiatives, particularly in rural Sindh. Minister Nasir Hussain Shah stated that solar systems are already being distributed among low-income families to meet basic electricity needs.

He added, “By solarizing homes, we are ensuring that even the most underserved households have access to reliable energy, which supports economic stability and daily living.”

Pink Taxis

The Sindh government is also working on deploying electric taxis and women-specific ‘Pink Taxis’ in the province as part of its commitment to inclusive, sustainable transportation.
