Lahore Traffic Police to Register FIRs over 5 Violations

Lahore Traffic Police has rolled out strict new traffic enforcement measures, replacing routine fines with immediate arrests and FIRs (First Information Reports) for serious violations.

The move comes in response to growing concerns over reckless driving, underage drivers, and a rising number of fatal accidents. Officials say that issuing challans has proven ineffective, as many violators continue to break the law without fear of real consequences.

The new enforcement approach targets several high-risk violations:

  • One-Way Driving Violations: Over 500 individuals have already been arrested for driving against traffic, a practice that often results in deadly collisions and major traffic jams.
  • Overloaded Loader Rickshaws: Many of these vehicles operate in unsafe conditions, with loads obstructing the driver’s view. Such cases will now result in direct legal action.
  • Unregistered Vehicles: Special focus is being placed on unregistered two-wheelers and cart-mounted bikes, which often slip through regular checks. These are now under tight surveillance.
  • Underage Driving: A new policy is being drafted to hold parents legally accountable if their underage children are caught driving. Parents may be booked as abettors.
  • Reckless Driving: Speeding, dangerous overtaking, and other forms of aggressive driving will lead to arrests rather than warnings or fines.

  • Lahore looks a clean and better city unlike Karachi which has become a filthiest city.. There is dirt and mismanagement all over Karachi. This the difference the city is ruled.
