Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar announced on Sunday that more than 8,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed to ensure security for the Pakistan Super League (PSL X) final between Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators.
The Punjab police have implemented comprehensive security measures for the match, focusing on the safety of local and international players, officials, and cricket fans. Supervisory officers will oversee all arrangements, including security, traffic management, and general safety, while police personnel have been instructed to remain highly vigilant and alert to any suspicious activity.
Dr Usman highlighted the use of an advanced security strategy for PSL 10, commending the efforts of police in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan for maintaining peace during earlier matches. He also noted the effective coordination between district administrations, security agencies, and other relevant institutions.
Specialized units, including the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Units, and Elite Force, will conduct targeted patrols around key routes, the stadium, and nearby areas. Continuous surveillance will be maintained through CCTV cameras at critical locations, including team routes, the stadium, and accommodation sites. Snipers will be stationed on high-rise buildings around the stadium for added security.
The Punjab Police have issued a traffic advisory and urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement. Dr Usman encouraged fans to follow police instructions to ensure a safe and enjoyable match experience.
