PM Shehbaz Makes Annual Medical Tests Compulsory for Govt Officers

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a big amendment requiring annual medical examinations for all federal government officers in grade 17 and above, official sources told ProPakistani.

Under the new policy, these medical assessments will now play a key role in decisions regarding the retention, training, nominations, and promotions of officers. The aim is to ensure early detection of health issues while assessing officers’ eligibility for higher responsibilities and specialized training.

Following the Prime Minister’s approval, the Establishment Division has issued directives to all federal ministries, divisions, and provincial governments for immediate implementation.

The annual medical report of each officer will be submitted using a designated proforma and conducted only by authorized medical officers at government teaching hospitals or district headquarters hospitals.

The reports must be submitted to the relevant ministry or cadre administrator by March 31 each year, and a certificate confirming completion will also be forwarded to the Establishment Division. Each officer’s medical evaluation will be maintained as a separate “medical roll.”

If any officer is found to be physically or mentally unfit, the case will be reviewed by a medical board. A final decision in such cases will be made by a review committee of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), which will submit its findings to the Prime Minister.

  • It should also include psychiatric and psychological tests and made compulsory for President, PM, Ministers etc also. A good start would be with the President and Prime minister.

  • Most important should be their Psychological and emotional stability. And lie detector to ask if they took bribe. Forget last one no one will pass
