A shocking report by the City Traffic Police (CTP) has revealed that 3,896 official vehicles used by senior government officers across 73 departments have been caught violating traffic laws in Lahore, many on multiple occasions.
These vehicles are being used by high-level officials including the Inspector General of Police, Lahore Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and Director Generals of various federal and provincial departments.
The most repeated violator was a police vehicle (LRZ 6076) linked to an SP, involved in 107 violations with Rs. 50,300 in unpaid fines. Other top violators include cars used by the Agriculture DG (83 violations) and Additional Chief Secretary Punjab (47 violations).
Despite repeated e-challans, most fines remain unpaid. Letters have been sent to departments demanding identification of violators and payment of dues.
CTO Athar Waheed has reported the issue to Chief Secretary Zahid Akthar Zaman and IGP Dr. Usman Anwar, urging immediate action. Meanwhile, traffic police filed 4,541 FIRs against regular citizens in the last 10 days for similar violations—many were arrested on the spot.
