Pakistan cricket team’s players are often the most scrutinized bunch, facing endless criticism from fans and the media, and now former all-rounder Imad Wasim has shed light on its effects on the players.
Speaking with ProPakistani’s How Does it Work? Podcast, the former international revealed that players try to avoid listening to the noise as much as possible.
“As a professional cricketer, that may not be to anyone’s liking, but it doesn’t matter to us (what is said in the media); to be very honest. We are professional cricketers and the only thing that matters to us is the demands of the team and the team management. Outside of that, it doesn’t bother us, especially me. Whatever is being said is their opinion and I respect that, but it does not affect my mental health at all,” Imad Wasim revealed.
The 36-year-old is one of the most talked-about cricketers from Pakistan to have come into the crosshairs of local media. His supposed dislike of Babar Azam has made headlines countless times, but for Imad, it is all part of being a professional.
With the Pakistan cricket team undergoing a period of intense scrutiny, Imad’s message is a timely reminder that behind every scorecard is a human story, and Pakistan cricket’s strength lies in standing by its players through all of it.
