Pakistan Railways has announced a 20% discount on train fares for all passengers nationwide during the three days of Eid-ul-Azha.
According to an official statement, the discount will apply to all trains and classes, but only for current bookings. The offer will not be available for Eid special trains. The fare reduction will be in effect throughout the three-day Eid period, coinciding with the government’s four-day holiday from June 6 to June 9.
The decision was made under the special directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi. Railway officials said the department is also working to ensure smooth operations, increased security, and punctuality during the busy holiday season.
In addition to the fare discount, Pakistan Railways is running five special trains to accommodate the surge in holiday travelers. The first Eid special train departed from Karachi to Lahore on Monday. The second train is scheduled to leave Quetta for Peshawar at 10am today, while the third will depart from Lahore to Karachi via Multan at 5pm. The fourth special train will run from Karachi to Rawalpindi at 8pm on Tuesday, and the final special train will leave Karachi for Lahore at 8pm on June 4.
Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi also announced that a new passenger train service between Lahore and Narowal will begin operations on June 15. He noted that the department’s revenue has reached Rs83 billion ($294 million) in the last four months, reflecting improved operations.
