Uzbekistan Airways will begin direct flights between Tashkent and Islamabad starting June 14. The new service will operate every Saturday and is intended to improve air connectivity between the two countries.
This direct route is part of efforts to enhance regional integration under the Central and South Asia Connectivity Initiative. Uzbekistan Airways already operates direct flights to Lahore twice a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Officials say the new Tashkent–Islamabad flight will support business travel, tourism, educational exchange, and official delegations. Sectors expected to benefit include textiles, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, logistics, tourism, and hospitality. The route is also expected to make travel easier for students, pilgrims, and tourists from both countries.
Both governments see the new air link as a step toward stronger economic and cultural cooperation. The direct flight will also help facilitate trade and investment, and is expected to increase tourism between Pakistan and Uzbekistan. The service is part of a broader strategy to connect Central Asia with South Asia through improved air, road, and rail links.
A report from Uzbekistan Airways notes that the Tashkent–Islamabad route complements other regional infrastructure projects, such as the Trans-Afghan Railway, and supports ongoing efforts to modernize and diversify both economies. The airline says the new route will provide a reliable travel option for a growing number of visitors, students, and business travelers.
