Seven Major Cities of Punjab are Getting Hundreds of Electric Buses

The Punjab government has taken a major step toward promoting environmentally friendly public transport by approving the purchase of 600 electric buses for cities across the province.

After the successful operation of electric buses in Lahore, the government now plans to expand the initiative to other major cities, including Multan, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujranwala, and Gujrat.

This move is expected to significantly reduce both traffic congestion and air pollution. Officials say the introduction of these electric buses will provide citizens with safe, comfortable, and internationally standard travel options.

The Punjab cabinet has formally approved the project, which marks one of the largest expansions of green public transport in the province’s history.

Currently, 27 electric buses manufactured by Chinese company Yutong are already operating successfully in Lahore. The expanded fleet aims to build on this model to provide sustainable transportation solutions across Punjab.
