Citizens Withdrawing Cash From Banks Advised to Get Mandatory Police Security

South Zone Police has issued a new advisory for people withdrawing large amounts of money from banks, making police security mandatory for withdrawals of Rs. 500,000 or more.

Under the new rules, bank managers must contact the relevant police station to request security before releasing the cash. Authorities said banks will now be responsible for informing police themselves instead of leaving it to customers.

As part of the measures, banks in Karachi’s South Zone have been directed to install movable bunkers to improve security. Trained security guards will also be mandatory at all branches.

The advisory further states that guards must wear bulletproof vests. Entry and exit points of each branch must be covered with 8-megapixel CCTV cameras.

Instructions have been issued to keep a close watch on any unauthorized or suspicious individuals near bank premises. Security arrangements must also remain in place during public holidays, with at least one guard on duty inside the bank at all times.

Police added that only registered and certified agencies will be allowed to provide guards to banks.
