Karachi’s Safe City project has carried out its first successful operation, resulting in the arrest of a driver using a vehicle with a fake registration number.
The arrest was made after the newly activated Safe City cameras detected the suspicious vehicle within the jurisdiction of Arambagh police station.
The camera system flagged the vehicle for having a fake number plate, leading to swift action by the police and registration of a case at the concerned station.
Director General of Safe City, Asif Ijaz Sheikh, confirmed that this was the first official action initiated by the Karachi Safe City Authority.
He stated that the move followed a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister and Interior Minister, where clear directives were issued to begin operations using the camera system.
The Chief Minister also ordered legal action and instructed the Inspector General of Sindh Police and DG Safe City to ensure full enforcement. He further directed that the already-installed surveillance cameras be made fully operational and used to closely monitor criminal activity.

First step is to get rid of fake number plates instead of original, why this is being overlooked. Many number plate provider sitting outside Civic center selling fake plates….. This is the biggest deceptor in vehicle registration
Overzealous plan by ding govt to replace all number plates with Ajrak design is totaly bullshit with no added security feature… This rip of plan is delayed by atleast 3-4 months…..

cleanliness should started from own home…. there are always police officials involve behind every illegal activity…first of all law and order should be implimented on police officials with proper ground check…like their assets declarations, lifestyles and aĺl other things may be monitorize and made proper log and investigation…and the assets which have acquired by personnel before joining police department and after joining police department may be scruitnize…by doing so (once proofed) all the black sheeps should be removed from service without any incentives and all unjustified wealth should be captured by Government and merged with public fund…
by the grace of God, enough revenue will be generated…but the operation should be carried out with honesty… to do so choose those officials whos assets and lifestyle are justified before and after joining police…check their ACRs & PERs…prepare a team…make the team full empower… the start the mission….
So how did they register a case? The plate was fake right? How did they know who was actually in the car? Seems like a total joke.
