Lahore Once Again Experiences One of Its Hottest Temperatures Ever

Lahore faced another day of intense heat on Friday as the city recorded a scorching temperature of 45°C at 3:50 PM, according to real-time satellite data from Zoom Earth. This marks the second consecutive day the provincial capital has touched this extreme level, underlining the severity of the ongoing heatwave.

On Thursday, Lahore had also reached 45°C by 4:20 PM, as the city continues to endure extreme summer temperatures, pushing residents indoors and placing additional pressure on power and water supplies.

However, some relief may be on the horizon. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a spell of dust storms and rain-thundershowers across the upper and central parts of the country from June 13 to 16, which is expected to ease the prevailing heatwave conditions.

According to the PMD, areas likely to experience rain and thunderstorms—occasionally accompanied by hail—include Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Mansehra, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan, and Abbottabad.

Additionally, dust storms and thunderstorms are forecast in all districts of southern Punjab and upper Sindh during the same period. The PMD expects these weather systems to bring intermittent relief but warns residents to remain cautious due to possible localized severe weather events.
