France’s State-Owned TV Channel Declares Jammu and Kashmir as Part of Pakistan

A map broadcast by France’s state-owned news channel, France 24, went viral for showing the entire Jammu and Kashmir region as part of Pakistan. The map was part of a report on Iran’s recent missile strikes on Israel.

The “error” came days after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) shared a similar map on social media, showing Kashmir as part of Pakistan, which had already gone viral.

Indian social media users, who often view France as a close ally due to the sale of Rafale fighter jets, expressed fury over the misrepresentation. Many demanded an apology and correction, with posts on X calling it a “slap in the face” from a strategic partner.

One tweet suggested the map change was revenge for India’s military setbacks. The user wrote, “You can tell the French are extremely angry at the Indians for ruining the reputation of the French Rafale fighter jets.”

France 24 has not yet issued an official statement on the error.
