Did Donald Trump Say Pakistan Will Destroy Israel if it Attacks Iran Again?

A video of US President Donald Trump warning that Pakistan would “totally destroy Israel” if Israel attacks Iran again has gone viral on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram.

The clip has sparked confusion and concern amid the escalating Israel-Iran conflict. However, fact-checkers confirm the video is a deepfake, with its audio artificially generated using AI technology.

The video also falsely attributes a statement to Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, claiming he threatened to “destroy Israel” if Iran is attacked again. The clip has been viewed thousands of times across platforms, with some users believing it reflects official US or Pakistani policy.

No credible US media outlets, such as CNN, BBC, or Reuters, have reported Trump making these statements. On June 15, Trump condemned the Israel-Iran conflict and urged both sides to “make a deal” to avoid further escalation, consistent with his public stance on promoting peace in the region.

The fake video emerged amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iran. On June 13, Israel launched strikes on Iranian military and nuclear facilities, killing over 200 people, including top commanders. Iran retaliated with ballistic missile attacks on Israeli cities like Tel Aviv and Haifa on June 16, causing at least eight deaths and damaging infrastructure, including a US Embassy branch in Tel Aviv.
