The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially released the full schedule for the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI Cricket World Cup, set to take place across India and Sri Lanka from 30 September to 2 November.
Eight teams will compete in the marquee 50-over tournament, which is now in its 13th edition. According to the Women’s ODI World Cup schedule, India will host Sri Lanka on 30 September at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in the first match, setting the tone for a packed group-stage campaign. A day later, defending champions Australia begin their title defence in Indore against New Zealand, the reigning T20 World Cup winners, in a mouth-watering Trans-Tasman clash.
Pakistan, as announced earlier, will not travel to India for the tournament and will play all its games in Colombo. This dual-country approach brings a fresh dynamic to the World Cup, making it the first Women’s ODI World Cup to be co-hosted since 1993.
The tournament will be played in a round-robin format, with each team playing the other seven once, making for 28 league-stage games. The top four teams will advance to the semi-finals, scheduled for 29 and 30 October in Colombo/Guwahati and Bengaluru, respectively. The final will be held on 2 November, with Bengaluru or Colombo set to host the showpiece.
Seven-time champions Australia enter as favourites, having topped the ICC Women’s Championship standings. But with India hosting, and England, South Africa, and New Zealand fielding strong squads, the 2025 edition is expected to be one of the most competitive Women’s World Cups in history.
