A massive fire erupted at the Millennium Mall in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi, around 4:30 AM Wednesday, spreading from the roof to the third and fourth floors.
The fire originated on the roof and spread to the third and fourth floors, home to numerous garment shops and retail outlets. Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan reported that 11 fire brigade vehicles, including two snorkels, were deployed, but a severe water shortage hampered efforts. The fire is now mostly under control, with cooling operations in progress.
No casualties were reported as the mall was closed, but significant damage is anticipated to shops and infrastructure. Nearby residents were evacuated for safety. People have begun to share videos of the incident on social media platforms like X (aka Twitter):
