The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has revealed a big relief initiative aimed at large commercial and industrial consumers transitioning to solar energy systems.
In a recent notification issued by Director Customer Services Abbas Ali, LESCO announced that it will no longer require the installation of backup meters for these consumers.
Under the new guidelines, consumers migrating to solar systems will have the option to choose between backup or main meters for their billing needs.
Additionally, for new connections, only one Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) smart “LT TOU” meter will be installed instead of the previous requirement of two.
This change is expected to provide substantial financial relief. Each consumer will save approximately Rs 45,000 on meter installation costs, along with an additional Rs 80,000 relief on AT Boxes. Overall, this initiative allows consumers to save a total of Rs 125,000, easing the financial burden associated with adopting solar energy.
