The Punjab School Education Department has decided to take strict action against teachers who did not participate in the TNA (Training Needs Assessment) test.
According to sources, teachers who refused to take the test will now be evaluated indirectly. The department will assess the academic performance of their students instead. If the students perform poorly, disciplinary action will be taken against the respective teachers.
There are approximately 300,000 teachers in Punjab’s public schools. However, only about 10 percent of them reportedly took the TNA test. Due to repeated boycotts by teachers, the department had previously canceled the assessment.
In response, officials have now opted for a new approach. They will no longer test the teachers directly but will evaluate their students once schools reopen on August 15.
Many teachers have opposed the decision, stating that they were already recruited through competitive exams. They argue that it is unfair to judge their performance through additional testing.
Despite the criticism, the department remains firm on implementing the new evaluation method.

When they evaluate on the basis of students’ marks, teacher give unfairly more marks to students and hence it degrades the morale of students to work hard and quality of education.
