New Deadline Set for Official Opening of Flyover and Underpass in Rawalpindi

The Punjab government has directed the district administration to complete the remaining work on the service roads of Nawaz Sharif Flyover and the GPO underpass on The Mall within a week.

A senior official from the district administration told Dawn that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has been approached to inaugurate the completed infrastructure in the garrison city.

He confirmed that construction on the GPO underpass is nearly finished, with final touches underway. The carpeting of roads is expected to be completed in the next two to three days.

While the Nawaz Sharif Flyover has already been opened to traffic, work on the adjacent service roads is in its final stage and will be wrapped up by the end of this week.

The official further revealed that under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for 2024–25, a total of 155 development projects worth Rs. 49 billion have been launched in Rawalpindi.

Out of these, 22 projects have already been completed, while work on the remaining schemes is progressing and is expected to be finished soon.

The timely completion of these projects aims to improve road connectivity and ease traffic flow in one of the busiest areas of Rawalpindi.

  • While road infrastructure certainly need improvement, top priority should on drinking water storage and supply projects for cities including Rawalpindi which is already becoming a major issue.

Secondly energy focused projects to phase out IPPs (therby reducing capacity charges) and promote biogas, biomass, geothermal, solar, wind and nuclear power projects need urgent attention.

  • What’s the new deadline?
Why write click bait title when you yourself don’t know the date.

  • No date in this click bait article, also range road condition in Rawalpindi is the worst

  • Keep making underpasses and flyover under sharp deadlines, so the quality of work doesn’t meet standards.. As happened in Islamabad. Give it proper time for better results. I am saying it because it is making out of my paid taxes.
