Trump’s Gold T1 Smartphone Just Got a Major Reality Check

The Trump Organization’s wireless venture, Trump Mobile, appears to have walked back its key marketing claim that its T1 Phone 8002 would be made in the USA. Shortly after launch, the company’s website prominently featured a banner declaring the device was manufactured domestically. That claim has since been removed everywhere on the website.

In place of the original claim, the Trump Mobile website now features broader, non-specific patriotic slogans. The new tagline, “Premium Performance. Proudly American,” is accompanied by statements that the phone is “designed with American values in mind” and that “American hands” are involved in its creation. However, none of these phrases confirms that the phone is made, assembled, or even designed in the United States.

Specs Quietly Adjusted

The Trump T1 Phone 8002 was initially described as having a 6.78-inch AMOLED display and 12GB of RAM. Those specifications have since been revised. The website now lists a 6.25-inch screen and makes no mention of RAM. These adjustments may point to a change in the device’s supplier or hardware components, but no clarification has been provided by the company.

Delays and Uncertainty

At launch, Trump Mobile stated that the phone would begin shipping in September. The updated site now only says it will ship “later this year,” with no concrete timeline. The Trump Organization has not responded to requests for comment on the changes.
