Students of Islamabad’s government schools and colleges will soon benefit from a wide range of upgraded sports facilities, including eight padel tennis courts and five futsal fields, as part of a major initiative by the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC).
Padel tennis—a mix of squash and tennis—is rapidly gaining popularity across Pakistan. The IPC Ministry stated that work is underway on three padel courts, expected to be completed by the end of July, while the remaining five will be ready within the next three months.
The project is being carried out under the direction of Prime Minister’s Adviser on IPC, Rana Sanaullah.
The initiative also includes setting up futsal fields in five colleges, promoting football and physical fitness. Additionally, 25,000 tracksuits will be distributed to students from grades 5 to 10, and 115 mind games rooms will be established to develop cognitive skills.
To further expand athletic opportunities, the plan features sports kits for games like cricket, hockey, basketball, volleyball, and football, along with ten boxing rings and ten taekwondo arenas in various public schools. The goal is to promote talent development, discipline, and physical well-being among students.
