Drones to Monitor Traffic in Islamabad

The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) is now using drones to watch traffic and enforce laws on the city’s busiest roads. This new system will first be used on the Islamabad Expressway and Srinagar Highway, which are two major routes with a lot of traffic.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (R) Syed Zeeshan Haider stated that these drones will keep an eye on traffic in real-time and quickly spot anyone breaking traffic rules. People caught by the drones will get immediate fines. This is a big step towards using modern technology for traffic enforcement.

CTO Haider explained that this effort aims to improve discipline on Islamabad’s roads, reduce traffic violations, ease congestion, and make roads safer for everyone.

After the initial phase, the ITP plans to use drones on other important roads and areas across the city. Besides enforcing laws, the drones will also help find areas with heavy traffic jams, allowing ITP to send quick response teams to reduce delays and keep traffic moving smoothly.

The CTO added that this is part of a larger plan to modernize policing and ensure traffic laws are strictly followed.
