Crackdown Against E-Challan Violators Launched in Entire Punjab

The Punjab Traffic Police, with the help of the Safe Cities system, has begun a strict crackdown on vehicles with unpaid e-challans across the province. Previously limited to Lahore, this operation is now being implemented in all districts of Punjab.

Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr. Athar Waheed stated that from this week onward, traffic and PHP (Punjab Highway Patrol) wardens across Punjab will take action against vehicles with pending e-challan dues.

These officers have now been connected to a dedicated mobile application that allows them to verify unpaid challans on the spot and recover fines from violators.

Earlier, only special teams in Lahore were authorized to recover e-challan dues. Under the new system, every traffic warden and PHP official in Punjab can now stop vehicles with pending dues and collect fines directly in the field.

The campaign has already shown significant results. In May, traffic police recovered Rs. 22.6 million from over 37,000 vehicle and motorcycle owners. In June, recoveries surged to Rs. 86 million from 129,000 defaulters. In total, Rs. 108.6 million has been collected in just two months.

CTO Dr. Athar Waheed said large-scale recoveries are expected in the coming weeks as the system rolls out across Punjab.
