NAB Probes Illegal Hiring and Nepotism in Sindh Public Service Commission

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated a formal inquiry into suspected irregularities, favoritism, and unlawful hiring practices within the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC).

The investigation centers around former SPSC Chairman Noor Muhammad Jadmani and 15 other senior officials, including ex-members, secretaries, and controllers. NAB has accused the individuals of abusing their authority, manipulating recruitment processes, and failing to maintain proper transparency in appointment records.

Sources confirm that NAB has requested detailed documentation from the current SPSC leadership, including complete records of all recruitments and information about related legal proceedings, both ongoing and concluded. The current chairman has been instructed to submit the required data within one week.

Initial findings indicated that the information provided by the commission was incomplete, prompting NAB to express dissatisfaction and demand a comprehensive response.

The investigation has also revealed claims that certain government officials may have tampered with examination procedures to secure jobs for their children and relatives. In the upcoming phase, NAB intends to summon the beneficiaries of these alleged illegal appointments.

This is not the first time the SPSC has faced such scrutiny. In 2020, the bureau launched a separate investigation into the manipulation of recruitment results in various Sindh government departments. In one instance involving the 2018 exams, the names of qualified candidates for 30 posts were allegedly swapped with ineligible individuals.

The current probe seeks to uncover the full scope of corruption and hold those responsible accountable.
