Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 Launches Lighter and Slimmer Than Ever

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Z Flip 8, its latest clamshell-style foldable phone.

The new model keeps the familiar Galaxy Z Flip design while introducing a more capable FlexWindow, enhanced Galaxy AI experiences, and updated hardware.

It comes with a large foldable AMOLED display, a cover screen, dual rear cameras, 12GB RAM, and a 4,300mAh battery.

It is mostly a refinement over the last model with an even thinner and lighter body.

Design and Display

The Galaxy Z Flip8 features a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

On the outside, it has a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover display. The phone is available in Graphite, Cream, and Pink color options.

The device weighs 180 grams, making it lighter than the previous model. The overall design is similar to the Galaxy Z Flip7, so the main changes are focused more on internal hardware than appearance.

Samsung has also expanded the capabilities of the FlexWindow. Users can now browse photos, reply to messages, and access more apps without unfolding the device.

The cover screen also supports the latest Galaxy AI experiences, including Now Brief, which displays personalized daily information such as weather, schedules, notifications, exchange rates, and stock updates.

Internals and Software

The Galaxy Z Flip8 is powered by the Exynos 2600 chipset.

The phone comes with 12GB RAM and is available with 256GB or 512GB storage.

The phone runs Samsung’s latest One UI 9 foldable software experience with Galaxy AI features and app optimizations for the inner and cover displays.

Samsung has further optimized One UI 9 for the FlexWindow, allowing more applications to run directly on the cover display with navigation gestures similar to the main screen.

Cameras

The Galaxy Z Flip8 has a dual rear camera setup.

It includes a 50MP wide camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera. For selfies and video calls, the phone has a 10MP front camera.

The camera setup remains similar to the previous generation, so users should expect refinements rather than a major hardware change.

Samsung has also introduced improvements for content creators. The Galaxy Z Flip8 includes Camcorder Grip for more stable one-handed video recording, Super Steady with Horizontal Lock for smoother footage while moving, and Dual Recording, which simultaneously records both the creator and the subject while providing a live preview on the cover display.

Battery and Pricing

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 packs a 4,300 mAh battery.

The main battery upgrade is charging speed. The phone supports 25W wired charging, up from the slower charging speed used on earlier Flip models.

Samsung says the larger battery, together with the Exynos 2600 for Galaxy processor, is designed to deliver improved efficiency while powering the phone’s AI features and FlexWindow experience.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 starts at about $1,199. Market pricing will vary by region.
