After years of delays, the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) on Thursday officially handed over possession letters to 80 allottees in the Sky Garden Housing Project—marking a key milestone in the long-stalled initiative.
Federal Minister for Housing and Works, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, led the handover ceremony at the project site, where allottees received plots for the construction of their homes.
The Sky Garden Project is a joint venture between FGEHA and Commoners Sky Garden, originally signed in 2019. Located along the scenic New Murree Expressway, the project covers more than 11,000 kanals, of which 7,200 kanals have been transferred to the FGEHA.
According to the Ministry of Housing, the initiative is aimed at providing housing to federal employees registered under the 2009 membership drive.
Despite facing multiple setbacks—including a two-year delay due to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigations and Supreme Court scrutiny—the project has now resumed pace after receiving clearance from concerned institutions.
Currently, development is ongoing across 10 residential blocks. In the first phase, 250 kanals in Block A—declared free of legal and physical hindrances—have been allotted. The area is equipped with all basic amenities, allowing allottees to begin construction immediately.
Officials expect more possession letters to be issued as development progresses.
