As part of heightened security measures during Muharram, authorities in Peshawar have decided to suspend mobile phone services on the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
According to a police spokesperson, the suspension will begin after Friday prayers on the 8th of Muharram (today) and remain in effect until 10 PM on the night of Ashura (Sunday).
The move aims to strengthen security along the routes of mourning processions, especially in sensitive areas, and to prevent any untoward incidents during the religious observance.
Police officials said that mobile service suspension is a precautionary step to ensure peace and security throughout the city. The authorities are also deploying enhanced surveillance measures, including the use of drone cameras, CCTV monitoring, and other modern technologies to keep a close watch on the processions.
Security forces will remain on high alert during this period, and citizens are urged to cooperate with law enforcement for their safety.
