Pakistan’s youth girls netball team capped off a flawless campaign on Friday, sealing the Plate Championship with another trademark dominant 60-35 win over Maldives in the final of the Asian Youth Girls Netball Championship 2025.
The final, played at the Jeonju Hwasan Gymnasium in Jeonju, South Korea, marked an unbeaten run for Pakistan, who won all seven of their matches in the tournament.
From the first whistle, Pakistan’s players took charge of the contest, racing ahead to a 17-5 lead by the end of the opening quarter. The team continued to build on that strong start, stretching the margin to 34-17 at halftime. By the end of the third quarter, Pakistan was firmly in control at 45-23, leaving Maldives with no way back into the game.
Pakistan’s attack was sharp and unrelenting, while their defence repeatedly shut down Maldives’ attempts to rally. Key contributions came from Leya Raza Shah, Alisha Naveed, Sumayya Kouser, Haleema, Jasmine Farooq, Alina, Amani, Parisa, and Farah Rasheed, all of whom played pivotal roles in the decisive win.
The result was a proud moment for Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF) officials, who hailed the team’s performance. Chairman Mudassir Arian, President Sameen Malik, and Secretary General Muhammad Riaz congratulated the players and coaching staff for their hard work and discipline throughout the tournament.
Pakistan’s campaign at the Asian Youth Girls Netball Championship also included wins over Saudi Arabia, Chinese Taipei, hosts South Korea, and Japan (twice).
The Asian Youth Netball Championship 2025, held under the Asian Netball Federation, took place from June 27 to July 4. With this triumph, Pakistan not only lifted the trophy but also sent a clear message about the rising standard of youth netball in the country.
