Latest World Test Championship Points Table as Australia Continues Perfect Start

The World Test Championship 2025-27 is starting to hit its stride, and it is the usual suspects who continue to make a mark on the latest points table.

Pat Cummins’ Australia continues to occupy the top spot after another brilliant win over the hosts West Indies, while India are the new entrants after getting the better of England in their second Test match.

Shubman Gill’s team recovered from their opening Test loss to level the five-match series 1-1 after demolishing the hosts by 336 runs for their first win of the new World Test Championship cycle.

Australia, meanwhile, defeated the West Indies by 133 runs to not only win their second game over the hosts but also seal the three-match series with a game to spare, maintaining a flawless 100% points percentage (PCT) and underlining their credentials as early favourites to reach the final for a third straight cycle.

Latest World Test Championship Points Table:

Pos Team Played Won Lost Draw Deductions Points Points Percentage
1 Australia 2 2 0 0 0 24 100.00
2 Sri Lanka 2 1 0 1 0 16 66.67
3 England 2 1 1 0 0 12 50.00
4 India 2 1 1 0 0 12 50.00
5 Bangladesh 2 0 1 1 0 4 16.67
6 West Indies 2 0 2 0 0 0 0.00
7 New Zealand 0 0 0 0 0 0 0.00
8 Pakistan 0 0 0 0 0 0 0.00
9 South Africa 0 0 0 0 0 0 0.00

Australia’s relentless start means they already enjoy a healthy buffer at the top, having taken the maximum 24 points available. Their attack, led by Cummins, Hazlewood, and Lyon, has proved too strong for the West Indies, who sit winless at the foot of the table.

Sri Lanka remain second, having secured a win and a draw in their opening series. England and India are tied on points and percentage, though England’s earlier victory keeps them narrowly ahead on tiebreaks.

Bangladesh’s lone draw against Sri Lanka has helped them stay off the bottom, while New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa, who are playing Zimbabwe in a Test series not part of this cycle, are yet to begin their campaigns.

The coming months will see several of these teams launch their World Test Championship bids, with Pakistan set to begin their campaign in October against the Proteas.

As the race to Lord’s in 2027 begins to take shape, Australia’s commanding early form has set a high bar for the chasing pack.
