The Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) has launched a special installment plan to help agricultural consumers pay off long-standing electricity dues, some dating back to 2015.
Approved by MEPCO Chief Engineer Gul Muhammad Zahid, the initiative aims to ease the financial burden on tube well users, particularly those with disconnected connections or high arrears.
Under the new plan:
- Consumers with dues up to Rs. 1 million can pay in 30 monthly installments.
- For dues between Rs. 1 million and Rs. 3 million, the payment period is extended to 40 months.
- Amounts exceeding Rs. 3 million will be reviewed case-by-case.
Disconnected consumers can also get their power restored by paying 10% of the total dues upfront along with Reconnection Order (RCO) charges.
However, MEPCO clarified that a monthly markup will be applied to installments, and defaulting on any payment will cancel the facility.
The scheme, officially notified by Chief Engineer Customer Services Syed Jawad Mansoor Ahmed, is part of MEPCO’s broader efforts to recover billions in unpaid dues while providing relief to the farming community struggling with high electricity costs.
