Rare Blood Moon to Light Up Pakistan’s Sky This September

A total lunar eclipse will take place on the night of September 7, 2025, and will be fully visible across Pakistan and several Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia. Majid Abu Zahra, head of the Saudi Astronomical Society, confirmed the event.

Abu Zahra explained that during the eclipse, the Moon will pass through Earth’s shadow, causing its surface to appear reddish-yellow. He described the event as significant for those with an interest in astronomical phenomena.

Timing in Pakistan

In Pakistan, the eclipse will begin at approximately 8:28 PM local time with the penumbral phase. The partial eclipse will follow at 9:27 PM. Totality will begin at 10:31 PM, reach its maximum at 11:12 PM, and conclude at 11:53 PM. The final penumbral phase will end at 1:55 AM on September 8. All stages of the eclipse will be visible throughout the country.

The total lunar eclipse will also be visible across much of Asia, Europe, Africa, and Australia. In Saudi Arabia, observers will be able to witness the eclipse in its entirety, unlike the first total lunar eclipse of the year on March 14, which was not visible in the kingdom.

The eclipse can be observed without the need for telescopes or other instruments, although optical aids may enhance the viewing experience. The event will be visible to the naked eye under clear weather conditions.
