CDA Orders Removal of Golden Hands Sculpture on Margalla Avenue

A sculpture featuring two large hands holding illuminated globes, recently installed on Margalla Avenue in the federal capital, is now being removed following public criticism on social media.

The installation, which sparked debate over its design and purpose, was initially believed to be a project of the Capital Development Authority (CDA). However, journalist Nadia Mirza revealed that the sculpture was actually installed by a private developer, Faisal Hills, without formal CDA approval.

According to Mirza, the structure was recently covered with cloth after attracting widespread attention online. Quoting a person present at the site, she reported that a decision has now been made to completely remove the sculpture. Machinery and labour have already arrived at the site for its dismantling.

CDA officials have reportedly directed that the installation be taken down, stating that it did not have official clearance. While Mirza questioned how such a large structure was placed without CDA’s prior permission, she noted that growing public criticism had pushed the authority to act.
