Major Road in Islamabad is Getting a New Landmark

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started building a landmark sculpture on Islamabad’s Margalla Avenue.

Two tall golden hands stand on a concrete base, each holding a globe-shaped sphere that will light up from inside.

Once complete, the installation is expected to stand several feet tall and glow after dusk, creating a new visual marker for motorists entering the city.

A crane lowered the metallic spheres into place while crews wrapped the pedestal in protective sheeting ahead of final finishing.

Margalla Avenue, which links northern Islamabad sectors to the Grand Trunk Road, has undergone rapid upgrades since its opening.

The CDA has paired road expansion with greenbelts and streetlights to distinguish the corridor and underscore the city’s image as a modern capital.

Images of the construction site have circulated widely on social media, drawing curiosity and generally positive feedback from residents who view the piece as a fresh civic icon.

  • What is the concept here in building such kapora lifting structure Does artist focusing political turmoil

  • This is clear wastage of public money… why not CDA utilises such huge amounts for developing public interest places and utilities? Why the dull minds in bureaucracy always plan n execute the roman empire’s sculputures and statues?….. whereas such phenomines are against islam as well….. why not there were built in that round about and elsewhere on the roadside the lagre size shelters for passengers to take rest or stay safe from rain showers n sun/heat in the seasons.

  • Such luxuries makes no sense in a third world country like Pakistan. The poor folks are making suicides due to hunger. Most of the people have no drinking water. 44 % of population is below the poverty line. The country is run through POL, electricity, gas bills and the remittance of the overseas Pakistani.
The situation of law and order is deteriorating day by day. In the fitness of things the government should concentrate on relief of the poor masses.

  • Total Waste Of Money This Landmark Is Useless Because No Purpose Behind It CDA Wasting Money On These Things Because CDA Sell Commercial With Rs. 3.5 Billion Per Kanal I Will Never By Even A Single Inch Of Plot From CDA Owned Sectors And Residential Towns Good Luck!

  • Pakistan ma sirf Islamabad hi nahi hy baki cities ko ar specially villages ko dekho road b nahi hy whan

  • On a lighter note — and with no offense intended — some cynics jokingly claim that CDA stands for “Choron Dakoo-on ka Adda.” While I firmly reject such an uncharitable label, one cannot help but wonder: has the CDA done anything lately to prove them wrong?

It’s not too much to expect that the Capital Development Authority actually develop something — or at the very least, maintain what’s already been built. Just a gentle reminder: this is taxpayers’ money we’re talking about — not a personal inheritance to be frittered away at will.

Take, for example, the Margalla Avenue stretch, especially near Shah Allah Ditta, E-11, and C-16 — the road has depressions and settlement patches as if it were mourning neglect. One might ask, has CDA even bothered to glance at it lately, or is that part of Islamabad now off their map?

It’s high time CDA starts acting like a development authority and not just a signboard-hanging department with a misplaced sense of achievement!!

  • I agree with Saba comments. I Would like to add land owners whose land acquired by CDA should make just compensation and settled long standing aggrieved persons first.
