Pakistan Hockey Players Consider Boycotting Camp Over Unpaid Dues

Pakistan’s national hockey players are reportedly considering a boycott of the next training camp in protest over continued delays in the payment of their dues.

According to Geo’s Sohail Imran, members of the Pakistan hockey team have begun discussing a possible boycott and are preparing a formal demand for the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF). They are expected to ask not only for the immediate settlement of their pending payments but also for advance daily allowances for upcoming camps and international events to avoid this rigmarole in the future.

A senior player, speaking on the condition of anonymity, expressed frustration over the lack of financial support: “We’re always ready to represent Pakistan, but we can’t keep paying our daily expenses from our own pockets. Who’s going to take care of our welfare?”

Things between the PHF and the players have been reaching a boiling point for some time now. Each member of Pakistan’s current hockey team is reportedly owed up to PKR 500,000 from recent events, an issue which was highlighted months ago.

The senior player further claimed that even the idea of monthly payments through central contracts is now a distant dream.

“We don’t even get our daily allowances anymore. The federation keeps making excuses, and now they don’t even bother responding,” he said.

In a clear message to authorities, the players suggested a structural change, proposing that the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) take over the disbursement of payments.

Frustration among the players appears to be growing, with several now openly blaming both the PHF and PSB for their ongoing financial struggles, which could lead to a logjam in the coming days.

As things stand, the national hockey team—once a symbol of Pakistan’s global sporting dominance—faces internal turmoil once again. Whether this protest will force the hand of officials remains to be seen, but the players’ patience has clearly worn thin.
